Emily Paine daughter of John Payne (id # I322). Emily (or Amy as she was sometimes called) married James (Jacques) Druggett The surname Druggett has many variations including Droggit, Droquet. He was from France. They moved to Broom's Bottom in the Bay of Islands, Newfoundland.

Emily died Dec 14, 1890 at Lark Harbour Bay of Islands.

They had children Sophia, married James Wheeler (my g grandfather), James, married Mary Ann Derri gan, Amos,married Alice Travis, Adalaide maried George Park Emily's sister Magdalene Paine married Josiah Payne. Bishop Feild met John Paine and Sarah in 1849. The following is from his journal.

On July 11, 1990 I had visited the old Anglican Cemetery at Woody Point, where I found the broken Headstone of Philip buried beneath the top soil, unable to read the entire inscription he died on 16 June 1873.

Some people have Robin in is name, but does not belong, it probably a mistake in transcribing the material for Hutchings and Buehler's book «i»Early Settlers on the Southwestern Shore of Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula«/i» came from marriage # 2 in the first marriage register at The Curch of Epiphany at Woody Point, Newfoundland, dated August 9, 1879 between Charles BENOIT and Cecilia PAYNE wher is name is not clearly spelt out where the father is listed. But 6 marriages later it is clearly spelt as Robert as father of Phoebe at her marriage. All other info including his tombstone at Cow Head, Newfoundland lists his name as Robert.

Phillip died at an unknown location, at age unknown. I have no written proof that Phillip is a son of Charles PAYNE (1818 - 1874) and Elizabeth BRAKE (1817 - 1891). But there is enough evidence to support the fact that there is another Phillip PAYNE besides Charles' brother Phillip PAYNE (1823 - 1873) and Phillip's son Phillip jr. (1863 - 1892). This Phillip was married to Mary Ann HUMBER and is listed as having the following children Sarah Jane born 1866 and Rose Ellen born 1867, leaving Phillip to be born approximately early 1840's. Thus only leaving one family that would support this date, Charles & Elizabeth PAYNE. According to Jane HUTCHINGS' book Phillip PAYNE (1823 - 1873) married a second time to a Mary Ann ??, this would not be the father of Sarah Jane PAYNE (1866 - ?? ) & Rose Ellen PAYNE (1867 - ?? ) as Phillip's wife Catherine BRAKE (1829 - 1874) did not die until 1874, a year after the death of her husband. According to the second marriage of Mary Ann HUMBER to John WHITLE, on August 18, 1872 she is listed as the widow of Philip PAYNE, of Bonne Bay.

This Phillip was married to Mary Ann HUMBER and is listed as

having the following children Sarah Jane born 1866 and Rose

Ellen born 1867, leavi ng Phillip to be born approximately

early 1840's. Thus only leaving one family that would

support this date, Charles & Elizabeth PAYNE. According to

Jane HUTCHINGS' book Phillip PAYNE (1823 - 1873) married a
