(The said James GUICHARD and Hannah BIGGIN having been previously married by a layman in October 1869, according to a custom prevailing on the shore, there being at the time no clergyman to be found in the place). Joseph J CURLING, Missionary Deacon, Bay of Islands. The above marriage was solemnized between us; his mark X James GUICHARD and Hannah BIGGIN. In the presence of us; his mark X Levi HOUSE, John HOUSE, her mark X Keziah BIGGIN.
