  Robert was born circa 1852 at Bay of Islands, Newfoundland. Robert was the son of John BRAKE and Ann WHEELER. He married «b»Eliza Ann«/b» «b»PAYNE«/b» December 6, 1874 at Bonne Bay, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Entry No. 46 - Robert BRAKE of Bay of Islands, bachelor, and Eliza PAYNE of Bonne Bay, spinster, were married according to the rites of the Church of England on the sixth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy four. (The said Robert BRAKE and Eliza PAYNE having been married, by a layman on the 25th November 1872, there being no clergyman to be found in the place at the time, according to a custom prevailing on the shore). By me Joseph J CURLING, Missionary Priest. The above marriage was solemnized between us; his mark X Robert BRAKE and her mark X Eliza PAYNE. In the presence of us; his mark X Mark R ROBERTS, her mark X Frances LUNDRIGAN. «tab»Robert died 1920 at Trout River, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland, at age 68. Robert was settled at Winter House Brook, Bonne Bay by 1872, however, he left in the late 1880's and settled permanently at Trout River. Marriage solemnized in the Church of the Epiphany, Woody Point, in the Mission of Bonne Bay in the Diocese of Newfoundland, July 14, 1889, Robert BRAKE, age 36, widower and fisherman of Winterhouse Brook Cove, son of John BRAKE, fisherman and Anna Maria CROCKER, age 18, spinster of Winterhouse Brook Cove, daughter of Charles CROCKER, fisherman. Married in the Church of the Epiphany according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of England, By me Charles William HOLLANDS. This marriage was solemnized between us: The mark of X Robert BRAKE & the mark of X Anna Maria CROCKER. In the presence of us: his mark X Elijah PAYNE, Diana PAYNE. «tab»Robert died 1920 at Trout River, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland, at age 68.
