Entry No. 81 - These are to certify that Edward Francis PAIN, bachelor, and Ruth PAIN, spinster, both of Bonne Bay, North West coast of Newfoundland, were married according to the Rite of the Church of England, this first day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven. (The said Edward PAIN and Ruth PAIN having been previously married by the Lay Reader, there being no clergyman at the time to be found on the shore). By me Thomas P MAPIAH, Missionary Priest. The above marriage was solemnized between us; his mark X Edward Francis PAIN and her mark X Ruth PAIN.
