Coast of Newfoundland were married according to the Rite of the Church of England, on this thirty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight. (The said Ambrose PAYNE and Keziah BIGGIN having been previously married by a layman in the absence of the clergyman on the 29th August 1878 according to a custom prevailing on the shore,). By me Joseph J CURLING, Missionary Priest. The above marriage was solemnized between us; his mark X Ambrose PAYNE and Kezia PAYNE (nee) Kezia BIGGIN. In the presence of us; his mark X Cornelius BIGGIN, his mark X Charles BIGGIN, his mark X Thomas SMART. Keziah was born August 1849 at an unknown location. Married at Parson's Pond according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of England, By me Joseph J CURLING. This marriage was solemnized between us: Henry HOUSE & Mary Ann PAYNE. In the presence of us: His mark X Ambrose PAYNE, John HOUSE, her mark X Martha BLANCHARD, his mark X Symeon PAYNE.
