Mary2 PAYNE (John1) was born at Bonne Bay, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland 1828. Mary died December 17, 1894 at Lobster Cove, Newfoundland, at age 66. Age 66 years. Her body was interred after December 17, 1894 at Rocky Harbour, Bonne Bay, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Tombstone Inscription: Mary PAYNE died December 17, 1894 age 66 years. She married Robert PAYNE estimate 1848 at an unknown location. Robert was born 1818 at Cow Head, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Robert was the son of Charles PAYNE and Mary PARK. Robert died April 5, 1889 at St. Paul's, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland, at age 70. His body was interred after April 5, 1889 at Cow Head, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Some people have Robin in is name, but does not belong, it probably a mistake in transcribing the material for Hutchings and Buehler's book Early Settlers on the Southwestern Shore of Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula came from marriage # 2 in the first marriage register at The Curch of Epiphany at Woody Point, Newfoundland, dated August 9, 1879 between Charles BENOIT and Cecilia PAYNE wher is name is not clearly spelt out where the father is listed. But 6 marriages later it is clearly spelt as Robert as father of Phoebe at her marriage. All other info including his tombstone at Cow Head, Newfoundland lists his name as Robert.
