      [THE ASH TREE.GED]

Taylor's daughter Una Jacobs lives in Trout River very near the place her grandparents settled. She runs the P.O. there and has for many years. She is very involved in the community there. She showed us the location where her grandparents William and Mary Jane ( Ash ) Parsons and Richard Ash lived on the Trout River. They are buried in the United Church cemetery there on the hill overlooking the town.

on the web site http://www.k12.nf.ca/jakeman/trwwi.htm and included in this album is a picture of - Robert Hann and Charles Hann of Trout River went overseas to fight in World War One. While fighting for his country in Summitt, France, Robert was shot to death by a German snipper in July 1918, almost at the end of the war. Taylor Parsons also of Trout River, was defending his country on the same battlefield. The authorities called on Taylor to identify the body of his friend, Robert. Taylor was left to inform Charles, who was in the hospital being treated for shrapnel wounds, about his brother, Robert's death. After recovering from his wounds, Charles returned to the battlefield to continue fighting for the freedom. He rem ained in England until the end of the war. Charles Hann was left disabled for life because of his wounds. He vowed that he would seek revenge for his brother's death by executing every German that fought in World War One.

At the end of the war, Charles and Taylor returned to Trout River. At the age of 74 Charles died due to complications arising from his old war wound. Taylor died of natural causes at the age of 81.
