Entry No. 24 - Joseph BROWN of Daniel's Harbour, bachelor and Phyllis HUTCHINGS of Cow Head, spinster, were married by me on the fifteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy four. This conclusion may not be correct and was likely based on the incomplete or biased reading of a notation in Bishop FIELD's 1849 List of Inhabitants. The conclusion is also questionable in light of a more recently discovered document, The Last Will and Testament of John BROOK, 1823.

    Mary Brooks (daughter of Robert Brooks and Mary (Park) Brooks) was born 1793 in Born with Indian name, She went to England and came back with the name Brooks, and died March 30, 1862 in Cow Head, NL, Canada. She married Charles Payne on 1810.
