    Joseph, a fisherman, arrived in Bonne Bay around the 1840's. He was a native of Exeter in England. He married Sarah DECKER (1827 - 1900) daughter of James DECKER (1800 - 1880) of Rocky Harbour. They settled at a point near the mouth of Bonne Bay, two miles north of Woody Point, which was known as Mudge's Point. The MUDGE's moved to Crawley's Cove sometime in the 1870's or 1880's.
