Entry No. 93 - These are to certify that Ambrose PAYNE, bachelor, of Parson's Pond, and Keziah BIGGIN, spinster of Daniel's Harbour, N.W. Coast of Newfoundland were married according to the Rite of the Church of England, on this thirty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight. (The said Ambrose PAYNE and Keziah BIGGIN having been previously married by a layman in the absence of the clergyman on the 29th August 1878 according to a custom prevailing on the shore,). By me Joseph J CURLING, Missionary Priest. The above marriage was solemnized between us; his mark X Ambrose PAYNE and Kezia PAYNE (nee) Kezia BIGGIN. He was a witness at Henry HOUSE and Mary Ann PAYNE's wedding September 23, 1880 at Parson's Pond, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Marriage solemnized at Parson's Pond in the Mission of Bay of Islands in the Diocese of Newfoundland, September 23, 1880, Henry HOUSE, age 30, bachelor and fisherman of Daniel's Harbour, son of Henry HOUSE, fisherman and Mary Ann PAYNE, age 30, spinster of Parson's Pond, daughter of Samuel PAYNE, fisherman. Married at Parson's Pond according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of England, By me Joseph J CURLING. This marriage was solemnized between us: Henry HOUSE & Mary Ann PAYNE. In the presence of us: His mark X Ambrose PAYNE, John HOUSE, her mark X Martha BLANCHARD, his mark X Symeon PAYNE.

«b»Keturah«sup»«i»2«/sup»«/i» PAYNE«/b» (Charles«sup»«i»1«/sup»«/i») was born at Cow Head, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland December 24, 1812. Kitty died June 16, 1893 at Daniel's Harbour, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland, at age 80. Age 81 years. Her body was interred June 19, 1893 at Daniel's Harbour, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Tombstone inscription; Erected by Levi HOUSE in memory of his beloved wife who died August 21, 1856 age 34 years.

She married «b»James«/b» «b»BIGGIN«/b» circa 1830 at an unknown location. James was born circa 1802 at Pylle, Somerset, England. James was the son of Thomas BIGGIN and Judith ALLEN. James died October 30, 1872 at Daniel's Harbour, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland, at age 70. Patsey Reid in her notes of Charles Payne and Mary Brooks states James Biggin died 30 Oct 1872 at age 70 and buried at 1st Anglican Cemetery, Daniel's Harbour, Newfoundland.

Mary died March 30, 1862 at Cow Head, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland, at age 69. Her body was interred after March 30, 1862 at Cow Head, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Mary has a tombstone in a feild at Cow Head along with two other graves without markers, it reads Mary PAYNE died March 30, 1862 age 69 years. This conclusion may not be correct and was likely based on the incomplete or biased reading of a notation in Bishop FIELD's 1849 List of Inhabitants. The conclusion is also questionable in light of a more recently discovered document, The Last Will and Testament of John BROOK, 1823.

Mary Brooks (daughter of Robert Brooks and Mary (Park) Brooks) was born 1793 in Born with Indian name, She went to England and came back with the name Brooks, and died March 30, 1862 in Cow Head, NL, Canada. She married Charles Payne on 1810.
