    It is with great sadness that the family of the late Basil Melbourne McAuley announce his passing on Sunday, March 26th, at his family residence in Summerside in his 71st year. He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife Mona (nee: Lod er); children Karen (Rendell Matthews), Janice (Brian Brake), Albert (Lisa), Hilda (Byron Bellows); daughter-in-law: Sherry McAuley; seven grandchildren: Paula, Colin, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Meghan, Wilfred and McAuley; brothers: Aubrey (Olive) and A lfred (Alberta); Sister Inez (Pierce Carter). In-laws: Jane McAuley, Harriet McLean, Olive McAuley; Doreen (Jerry Whyte), Shirley Loder and Hilda Ruth; Richard Loder; special niece Elizabeth Anderson, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Alexander and Laura McAuley; brothers: John, Alexander, Lionel, Angus and Donald and by son: Paul in 1994. Visitation will take place at Bethany United Church in Summerside beginnin g Monday evening, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 29th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. William Mercer officiating. Interment to follow at Bethany United Church Cemetery in Summerside. As expre ssions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation, Chemotherapy unit, or Bethany United Church Memorial Fund. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Corner Brook.

    Michael died November 24, 1898 at Curzon Village, Bonne Bay, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland, at age 65. His body was interred November 26, 1898 at Woody Point, Bonne Bay, Disrtict of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Tombstone inscription: In Loving Memory of John Michael EISAN who departed this life November 24, 1898, age 65 years. John Michael, a fisherman, was probably the first permanent resident of Crawley's Cove, settling there about 1863. John originally from Ship Harbour, Nova Scotia came to Bonne Bay as a fisherman on a Nova Scotian vessel.

    The EISAN name disappeared from Bonne Bay in the 1930's with the death of Michael's second wife. The name was only carried on through his son Alfred EISAN (1864 - ?? ), who moved to Daniel's Harbour before the turn of the century
