Phillip died June 16, 1873 at an unknown location, at age 49. His body was interred after June 16, 1873 at Woody Point, Bonne Bay, Disrtict of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. On July 11, 1990 I had visited the old Anglican Cemetery at Woody Point, where I found the broken Headstone of Philip buried beneath the top soil, unable to read the entire inscription he died on 16 June 1873.

first permanent settlers at Winter House Brook establishing

themselves there from Rocky Harbour by 1856 on a point which

became known as Payne's Point, near a br ook later named
