Coast of Newfoundland were married according to the Rite of the Church of England, on this thirty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight. (The said Ambrose PAYNE and Keziah BIGGIN having been previously married by a layman in the absence of the clergyman on the 29th August 1878 according to a custom prevailing on the shore,).
