They settled at a point near the mouth of Bonne Bay, two miles north of Woody Point, which was known as Mudge's Point. The MUDGE's moved to Crawley's Cove sometime in the 1870's or 1880's.

Bonne Bay, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. Entry No. 95 - These are to certify that John BRAKE, bachelor, of Bay of Islands and Laura Ann THOMAS, widow, of Lobster Cove near Bonne Bay, N.W. Coast of Newfoundland were married according to the rite of the Church of England, on this eight day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight. (The said John BRAKE and Laura Ann THOMAS having been previously married on the 7th August 1878 by a layreader in the absence of the clergyman according to a custom prevailing on the shore,).
